I am having a new furnace installed after 28 years with a Payne. The secondary (?) heat exchanger on the Payne is rusted and inoperable. The repairman actually turned off the furnace and the gas supply.
The estimate on the 95% efficent – middle line – Bryant. Anyone have any experience with that brand name? Is it reliable? Any suggestions?
I am paying @ $ 2,500.00.
Thanks, Mike

Bryant is made by the same company that Carrier and is basically the same product. Not the best, not the worst.
I had one that I replaced years ago, but it was installed in such a manner that it failed prematurely due to excessive cycling. Regardless of the name on the front panel, the quality of the installation is the most important "feature" of your furnace.
Like Tim said - My understanding is that Bryants used to be low quality, but the company was bought out and its a much better product now.

We're happy with our Carrier, installed a couple of years ago.
BDP is owned by Carrier, or vise versa and makes Bryant, Day & Night and Payne.
(unless they spu off a business unit in recent years)
Thanks - I finally have heat. So now we'll see how long it lasts. Heck, it might even outlast me?Mike
