All,
Have you ordered materials from http://www.builddirect.com/? Their prices are very attractive, I was wondering if anyone had feedback regarding quality, service, and reliability.
Thanks, Frederic

By considering things like energy-efficient mechanicals, window orientation, and renewable energy sources, homes can be evaluated to meet the energy codes. Here's what the IRC has to say.

Maybe they are partnered with Builders Square? Logo is very similar. I liked builders square, but they closed down here years ago. Bought my very first power miter box there.
http://builderssquare.com/
Builders Square went completely bankrupt along with a couple of other companies that merged in the end, but I can't remember the names. This Builders Square does not sell anything. It is a price comparision website along with some blogs and articles..

A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
Ahhh, too bad.
That would be Channels, Rickles, hechingers, all crushed by internal problems and Homedepot.
"Channels, Rickles, hechingers"I have neveer heard of channels and rickles. Where they stores or the name of the owners. But Hechingers and also HQ (Home Headquarters) where the 2 that I was thinking of.From Wikipeadia."Hechinger, mistakenly called Hechinger's by many customers, was a chain of home improvement retail stores headquartered in Landover, Maryland outside Washington, D.C., and is currently an online retailer owned by Home Decor Products.John Hechinger, Sr. helped pioneer the do it yourself industry; from a single hardware store established by his father in 1911, Hechinger grew to a 64-store chain by the time it acquired Virginia Beach, Virginia-based HQ Home Quarters Warehouse in December 1987 for $66 million. In the 1990s it underwent a massive expansion of both HQ and the Hechinger Co. divisions, opening big-box stores to better compete with rivals Home Depot and Lowe's.The company continued to lose money in the early 1990s, however. The Hechinger family sold the company to Los Angeles investors Leonard Green & Partners for $507 million in July of 1997, and the management launched new, smaller concept stores called Better Spaces and Wye River Hardware & Home searching for a niche. In September, Hechinger was merged with San Antonio, Texas-based Builders Square, formerly owned by Kmart. After several rounds of store closings, Hechinger Co. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on June 11, 1999, but the reorganization failed. That September, Hechinger's assets were liquidated, including its 117 remaining stores. In 2004, Home Decor Products, bought the Hechinger brand name and opened an online retailer the following year, which sells the same products as the former brand. The company currently does not operate any retail stores.""Home Quarters Warehouse (HQ) was a chain of "big-box" home improvement stores, originally headquartered in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In 1984, the chemical manufacturing company W.R. Grace & Co. announced its intentions to enter the home improvement retail business, hiring Bernard R. Kossar and Frank Dozci to head the new chain. The first Home Quarters stores opened in February 1985 in Virginia Beach and Hampton, Virginia. Grace spun off HQ in 1986, but the new company was to be hit by hard times from the October 1987 stock market crash. In December 1987, Hechinger agreed to buy HQ for $66 million. The merger was completed in February 1988, with Frank Doczi left in charge of the Home Quarters division (Kossar moves on to found OW Office Warehouse, an office supply store that used a logo and branding similar to that of HQ.) Under Hechinger, HQ hit the prime of its life and expanded to much of the United States as a viable competitor to Home Depot, Lowe's, and Builders Square. However, by 1995 its parent company Hechinger had been hit with financial trouble and began to scale back its operations, including moving HQ's headquarters from Virginia Beach to Hechinger's main office in Landover, Maryland. The Hechinger family sold the company to Los Angeles investors Leonard Green & Partners for $507 million in July 1997, and the management launched new, smaller concept stores called Better Spaces and Wye River Hardware & Home searching for a niche. In September, Hechinger/HQ was merged with San Antonio, Texas-based Builders Square, formerly owned by Kmart. After several rounds of store closings, Hechinger Co. and Home Quarters Warehouse filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on June 11, 1999, but the reorganization failed. That September, Hechinger's assets were liquidated, including its 117 remaining stores.".

Channel was a home center chain, as was Rickel. They used to have a an annoying radio jingle "Do It Better with Rickel" in the heyday of home centers in the early 90s. We had most of them, along with Pergament, Builder's Square, until HD came around and it all started to go down hill.Hope this helps. Rich
It doesn't seem builddirect.com has anything to do with Builders' Square, which is out of business. Does anyone else have any feedback on builddirect.com?
Thanks,
Ordered a house worth of prefinished maple flooring from them about two and a half years ago. Was pleased with the quality. Service seemed decent enough.
try a search on this site for builddirect.. others have asked about this place and have gotten positive feedback
I've ordered a lot of stone and some cork flooring from them. No problems, I'd do it again.
