Fellow breaktimers
My wifes best friend, a single young woman, wants to build a log cabin in North Carolina. She is looking for a honest, reputable contractor in the Concord area. She has looked at Southland log homes, among others.
She has been told more than once, by log home dealers, to come back when she has a husband. I would appreciate any recommendations on a log home dealer, and or builder.
Thanks Greg in Connecticut

If she owns a fly rod I'll move there and build it at cost. :-)
I think she needs not only a builder, but a log home builder. Otherwise there would be some trial and error involved. I'd start with the log home dealers and try to get some references from them.
How big does she want to go? When I was looking I went to a model in Gaffney, SC which is not too far from Charlotte. There is one called Blue Ridge Cabins in Spartanburg,SC that does them like modulars. If that is of interest I will look back in the file and get your more info.
I cannot believe those jerks would say that to her, I guess they do not like checks written from a pink checkbook.

Kuhns Bros. package is a little more expensive than Southland but I belive it's higher quality and has more stuff. They have a list of qualified builders with experience in log. Worth a look.
Good luck,
Todd
Thank you for the help -I will forward all of the responses to her tonite-
