Building a basement under the house
My house was built into the side of a hill as a result my house sits on top of the garage. The garage only takes up 1/3 of the house’s footprint, so the other 2/3rds of the underside of my house is crawl space. Essentially what I could do is turn a standard two car garage into a six car garage. What I am trying to figure out what is the best way to do this. Any advice would be welcome.
Some facts about the house, it is supported by 6â€x6†Redwood Posts and is technically only one story. The soil is actually clay. We would like to add a 2nd story eventually. It is 65 years old.

Your going to need to hire an engineer maybe two (Geotechnical and structural). Can the soil carry the loads you are proposing and is the original footing big enough to carry this second story? Don't forget to get termite treatment before you pour your slab.
Good luck, maybe buying another house that meets your needs would be a cheaper option.
Build a new full basement in front of, behind, or beside the house, then pull it over onto it! :-)

You'll need the engineer(s) to design it, and a house mover to support the existing part while you dig under it and build the new basement and foundation.
