I’m in the process of reworking a side entrance into a mudroom. The finishes will be slate flooring with beadboard wainscotting. I would like to incorporate a built in bench: I want to take a 12″ wall cabinet (used over refrigerators) and set it on a 4″ base. Then set a granite top on it, and finish the walls with bead board.
Anybody done this before? Do you forsee any issues?

Here's a recent job from one of the guys. For a little inspiration.

Simple procedure, really, and a good way to go. I'd suggest that the cabs might get kicked somewhat and maybe an extra coat of urethane to protect if nec. But I wonder if you were thinking of doing the bead board after, as your post reads, cuz it'd be better to put it in first so that you won't have to patch if the bech gets removed.
All the best...
To those who know - this may be obvious. To those who don't - I hope I've helped.
I think the granite would not be a good choice for the bench. Too cold and if a hard object is "dumped" it could crack.
