Any suggestions for good wholesale suppliers of new kitchen/bathroom cabinet doors?
Have customers asking for “least expensive” ways to upgrade their kitchens, and I’ve suggested buying new pre-finished wood or thermofoil doors and painting the frames to match.
Want good quality suppliers, reasonable pricing.
Also, have no idea how to figure estimates for that kind of work – any help in that arena would be greatly appreciated as well.

I use a terrific supplier in the Chicago area who ships to me on the east coast. I have used him for White thermofoil. Ask for Joe 309-853-4167, he'll give you the website address. They do great work. I have not used him for anything OTHER than thermofoil.
a quick ballpark figure for off the rack or out of the box cabinets is $300 a lineal foot installed (measuring uppers and lowers separate) plus extra for micro, pantry or dbl oven cabinets and trim.
A reface job is less expensive material wise but more labor intensive. I wouldnt get less than 80% of a rip out and reinstall.

maybe if we knew where in the world you are we may be able to come up with a supplier in your reagon, or such.

fwiw fhb did an article about a year ago about mail order cabs etc, if i rember correctly they were unfinished but finished cab parts may be able to be sourced from them.

Maverick,
I assume the $300/ft you quoted was just labor for removing old cabinets and installing new ones? Wouldn't include any materials (other than few small items like nails, glue, and what not) would it?
James,
I am in Albany, GA area 75 mi N of Florida and about the same distance from Alabama.
Since Maverick is in New England I'd guess I'd have to adjust the rate down in proportion to the combined number of natural teeth still retained by the customer and myself.

You assume wrong. 300 a lineal would cover material and labor for inexpensive off the shelf cabinets.
Well, let's say a friend called and said they'd recently ordered some slightly less cheap cabinets from a big box chain, and they wanted to know how much I'd charge to install them.
This happened to me this week - what are the going labor rates around the US?
MikeVB
$150 a lineal counting uppers and bases separate
Around here thats also what the big box charges. The problem with them is thats ALL they do, open the boxs and screw 'em to the wall. There's a thousand other things that need to be done
Install crown and undercabinet panels and moulding, Install hardware, changeout counters and sink which usually involves new plumbing rough, rewire for code which brings you to new insulation, add lighting (under cabinet, in the cabinet, high hats), tile backsplash, change vent hood and dishwasher, tape & paint, JUST to name a few
When I sell a job I sell myself as a talent with a keen eye for the details. When I finish my client gets more than expected. You can't expect to sell a complete kitchen remodel for $150 a lineal, but its a place to start
I dont think I am being smug or arrogant or out of line in the least if I laugh when someone tells me they plan to use big box installers
Thanks for going the extra mile in your answers, also.
Mike
I see a dichotomy here.
The customer is looking for "least expensive" while you are asking for decent quality and reasonable pricing, which is what I find at Maplecraft. Cheap, they ain't.
if I read the words right, you customer wants some plywood ripped up to size and slapped on.
while you want to preserve your dignity
and keep what's left of your teeth.

Sounds like he would'nt qualify for a dental plan. I'm pretty sure you can get a tooth brush out side of New England. And shoes, we all got shoes too
