Just got a shipment of doors for a recent project.
I wanted a chamfer just on the inside stile and rail. The screen shot attached shows what the website describes. And the photos attached show how it was constructed. The chamfer is now a vee grove between the rails and stiles.
Is this the norm, did I misinterpret the website? Or is this a poorly worded description that brought on the mistake?
HELP?

Since that profile has the note on it, and none of the others do, my guess is that is a poorly worded website.
I think that it should have said the the rail END would have that profile.
Becuase, in fact, as noted, both rails and stiles have the profile shown, BUT ONLY ON THE PANEL SIDE, which they also say.

A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
So, I wouldn't be unreasonable of me to call and see what they say?
I would.Maybe at least they will change the website and show the whole picture of the finished frame.Or maybe they will send you a quart of wood filler <G>.

Hard call. They did put the text note in that rails would match.
Their profile view suggests a much smaller, more 'broken' edge, than the V-chamfered profile they actually cut.
Nothing on the profile page to indicate dimension, either (which is middling smart for them; you can't come back and go "Hey, my 1/16" chamfer is a 3/8" cove, what gives!?")
Having seen the finished door the note makes since.
All the other profiles you would expect for them to be applied to the rail and the stile.
If I was ordering the ogee I would not bother myself with the note on the chamfer.
Likewise, if I was buying the chamfer, I would not bother myself with the lack of note on the other profile.
The way it reads is, yeah it has the profile on the rail and stile, duh. That is what I would expect. BUT, having the benefit of seeing your doors, I can see why they have the note now. Though I don't think "the rails have the same angled cut" really describes what you got. (it does when you have the benefit of the picture though).
Perhaps it should read, "This profile results in a v groove at rail and stile joint". (someone may have suggested that).
Go ahead and call, like Mr Hartman says, it might benifit someone down the line, might not help you though. Maybe they will call it the JMadson profile from now on.
I like the idea of renaming it to the JMadson profile, kind of like getting a sandwich named after you at a deli.
I'll mention it when I call them in the morning.
Thanks everyone, I'll update after the call.
Just got off the phone with Cabinetdoorshop.com. I guess I just bought 6 doors for personal use.
They said I was the first to call in with this problem. They also said that it couldn't even be done. I know with an ogee or any other profile, a set of rail and stile combination bits is very common. Has anyone ever seen a combination set for a chamfer profile? If so, do you have a link to it?
Maybe I can build that buffett I've always wanted now.
no still looking but Kraftmaid offers a small chamfer on their shaker doors
so it can be done.
and you can have a custom shaper set made.I have made a few sets of shaker doors with chamfers but they had full tenons and the chamfer was removed at the joint and mitered not coped.
I am looking at an Eagle catalgolThey have a 15* Shaker bevel #185-500 and 20* bevel #185-400And Woodline has the 15* facecut (shaker) - WL1338-15WL 1368 Wedge..

Have you offered them to the client? Or do they just look to funky to even present the client with them?
