The attached pic shows my proposed deck railing arrangement. The 8 blue runs of cable are 1/8 SS strand, from Cable Rail (check out their website!). A guy I have quoting this says that 1/8″ cables are too *small* in that they are too spindly to see. He says he did a nice one like this with 1/4″ cable. Now the 1/8″ strand, the kind used as guy wires for sailboat masts, is PLENTY strong; this is a question of aesthetics, I think. I say I want ’em small, so as not to spoil the great view. Comments?
