Hello all,
I have a question about attic ventilation. I have two California dormers attached to the main attic space. Construction of the roof is with engineered trusses. Main attic was sheathed and then the dormers were attached. There are some holes that were cut between the two spaces. Two openings that are maybe 18″ x 18″.
The front rooms under the dormers stay warm for a longer time the than the rest of the house. My question is can I open up a few more holes in the sheathing between the main attic and the dormers to increase the air flow between the two spaces. I already have a gable vent fan installed in the main attic.
Thanks for any advice.

Wait till it's cooler to do any of the following. 1 Install a reflective tint on the glass. 2 Add soffett vents on the side of the dormer. 3 Add a ridge vent on top of the dormers.
Adding more ventilation between your main attic and the dormers could help regulate temperatures in the front rooms.
But before making any changes, consult with a roofer or contractor to ensure it's done safely. You may also consider installing dormer vents for efficient airflow because these vents can help improve ventilation and address temperature imbalance.
