I ordered simulated divided lite custom windows. For the front attic casement window and the 2 dormers on the roof of our 190 bungalow.
The supplier sent wood windows but with white aluminum muntins on the exterior.
INSTEAD of the wood that was ordered. I was heartborken, knowing that aluminum could not be painted and I was stuck with stark white windows.
I was out of time, since the contractors were on their way. My paint scheme is now very undesirable.
Is there any possible way I can have the painters paint the aluminum grilles or muntins?
thanks.

I don't see why they couldn't be painted--aluminum siding is sometimes painted. A paint store could tell you what paint to buy. Since your aluminum is new and not chalking, probably could paint it with any good exterior paint. When I painted chalky aluminum that was chipped in places, I washed it first with TSP, then painted with a good latex that had a bonding agent (like carpenters' glue) added. But you shouldn't need that because your aluminum is in good shape.
Thanks so much! the 2 house painters were in total disagreement about it and I had a feeling it could be done.

Yes the aluminum can be painted. It will hold up better then the wood ones you ordered too.
We use a good quality acrylic latex paint on aluiminum. Make sure the new factory finish is clean and free of any oils. You may want to lighty scuff the finish prior to painting.
I agree with Jim. I would just urge you to visit a real paint store -- not a home center -- and find out specifically what paint they recommend.
I painted some raw aluminum storms for a client about 10 years ago with a Ben. Moore product. I upgraded the storms this past summer, and the paint job still looked great.
Bare aluminim can be a bit tricky to prep, but if it's already painted, additional coats are no big deal.
I learned that a pre treatment of methyl-ethyl-ketone is the best cleaning, and also is a construction standard to allow for the adhesion, get some help at the pait store for the proper primer...LOL...
