Been reading about quick ways to get hot water from the heater in FHB and elsewhere. I want to add a pump to one of the baths where I have to wait over a minute for hot water. Instead of having the return via the cold water line, I was thinking of adding a dedicated line back to the heater, as I’ve seen on some of the diagrams.
Question is where to connect the return line back at the heater? I seem to remember seeing the return at the bottom of the tank on the diagrams. Can I use the drain valve/spigot on the tank to return to? OK, it does sound boneheaded now that I’ve written it down, but if so, then what?
Thanks.

You can remove the drain valve and connect the return there. You still need a hose bibb or other valve for draining the heater.
whoohoo! Alright, thanks.
That is not boneheaded, thats where the line should be connected. Take the drain valve out, make a new connection for the pump, and add a new drain valve at the connection. The pump should be near the water heater. Hope I'm helping, ............................................... "If all else fails, read the directions"

Why bother with a pump.
