Can I paint a “stone” retaining wall?
I recently had my home landscaped and we used the popular interlocking concrete stones that you can get at any home center. Unfortunately I don’t like the terra cotta color- it matches the brick of my house and blends in too much. I would have preferred the gray color.
My question is can I paint these things and have it look just like I had the gray ones installed from the start? My thinking is that the porous concrete will take spray paint very well and probably look fine, but I don’t want to just go do it and have it look like crap. Probably be pretty hard to undo the damage once I start…….

Not a stone guy (used to be a stoner though) but I think a concrete die might be more suitable.
Me too.
I would be concerned that the moisture migrating from the back of the wall, could push off the paint. Think basement block.

I think you would be creating a maintenance issue. Paint would adhere, but it's a question of how long. I think moisture migrating through the stone would eventually blister the paint.
Try and think of all the stones/rock/concrete that you've ever seen painted. I can't think of too many examples that have held up over time. My house foundation is painted and it's held up well, but that's not quite the same as concrete which is completely exposed.
