Can’t Load Attachments

NickNukeEm | Posted in General Discussion on March 24, 2005 07:37am

Hit the Attachment button in the reply screen and nothing happens.  Anyone have any idea why?  I’ve tried it several times with no success, it’s like the button isn’t connected.

If you have a popup blocker running, turn it off and try again.

I run with the popup blocker defeated.  Cycled it to on, still no luck.  Thanks.I never met a tool I didn't like!

It doesn't load instantly.  Give it a couple of minutes.  After you hit the load button, run your cursor up toward the top of the window and you'll get the hourglass, letting you know that something is working.  Eventually, your attachment will be listed.

    1. UncleDunc | Mar 24, 2005 07:53am | #4

Read it again. He never got to the Load button. No response after hitting the Attach Files button.

Just how big was that picture?

        1. UncleDunc | Mar 24, 2005 10:33am | #6

It doesn't matter how big it is. The problem is not that it's taking a long time to load. The problem is that he can't even get to the window to start the load.

As UD said, I never get to the load screen.  Not even an hourglass telling me the machine is trying to load the attachment screen, but thanks anyway.

dave... i  reloaded everything on my office machine.. it will not allow me to activate the attachments button..

the home computer was reloaded also..

i disabled  my Norton Internet Security  .. loaded some attachments... then turned Norton Back on..

it was convoluted  but it worked...

i don 't have time to get it to work at the office..

what a screwed up mess... i get email at the office, but no attachments... attachments at home but no email...

one thing good.. Norton Internet Security is doing a great job of protecting  my computers , so farMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore

Didn't see you on Saturday, did you make it?  Helen (mine) went skipping thru Providence hitting the restaurants while I sat and listened to ThatDrywallGuy talk about barrel vaults.  Guess who had more fun?

            Nick,

You can shut off just the Internet Security half of the Norton and leave the Antivirus half still on and see if that will do it.

Then you can download the Free ZoneAlarm to cover the missing Norton Internet Security, I think the ZoneAlarm is better anyhow.

The Norton IS always slowed the computer way down and created problems that cleared up when I shut the Norton IS off.

I'm having the same problem. Tried knocking off Norton IS, but no sucess.

Javascript is enabled.  And it still doesn't work.  I tried disabling Norton AV but no luck.  This really sucks, you buy a new computer thinking there should be no problems, and stuff like this happens.  It's software, it's probably Microsoft, and I'm probably screwed, and there's not much I can do about it.  I'll tape my photos to my computer screen and pretend they were downloaded.

E-mail them to me, and I'll post them. My address is [email protected] If they need to be resized or anything, you'll have to do that before you send them, because I don't have any graphics editing software.

Thanks for the offer.  I have an old dialup computer that I'll hook up and set up as a download computer.  Maybe with different id's I can be my own partner playing on-line spades.

Click on the Norton Internet Security icon and it'll bring up a window with a listing of System Status.

SecurityIntrusion DetectorNorton AntivirusPrivacy ControlAd BlockingNorton AntiSpam

Click on the Security tab at the top of the list and shut it off.

Everything should become disabled except the antivirus, but I can't remember if that does it all alone or if you have to click on configure in each tab and shut each off independently.

Most any popup blocker, or privacy software etc can be defeated by holding down the CTRL key. Also sometimes I hold down the CTRL key and refresh the screen, then still hold down the CTRL key when clicking on a link to get it to work.

There are certain web sites where this would be not prudent to do, so be sure before you do this. Dont ask why I know.
