I’m about to purchase a new cargo van for work. Anyone have something
good or bad to say about the chevy, ford, dodge, gmc cargo vans?

Any recommendations on the best way to remove brick
from a fireplace surround? I am going to be replacing it with tile.
*Try to park it in the city.
*Take a tape and measure the vertical distance from bed to top of door opening in the dodge. I could be wrong but I think she no four feet.
*FORD
*I think about 75% of cargo vans on the road are Fords, think there might be a reason for this
*There is a reason. My plumbers, electricians and painters have Fords. They all bought them because the pricing was lowest. Now, they all complain about the costs of maintainance. And the Ford vans get stuck quicker on ice and snow.I don't have to worry about repair costs with GM products. Those new rear doors on the work vans open a large access hole too.
*have had 3 GMC's through the years, two new, one used with 40k. ran them into the ground , all over 140k which is nothing these days with a good maintenance schedule. go GMC. you wont be sorry.
*I own a Chevy and wouldn't hesitate to get another (Chevy OR GMC). -Ken
*I bought a 1988 Chevy Van with unknown miles last April for $600. I changed the oil, threw every tool I own into and I've driven it 8000 miles. No problems. I'm convinced. Next van/truck will most likely be a GM.Rich Beckman
*GMC for me
*Having driven all three brands in the 15 passenger configeration. I like the new style GM models. Test drive one first to make sure the ride is stiff enough for you. I found some too be way to soft even though they are rated at 1 ton. If Dodge would update the body style and give it bigger doors it would be the better van. Front entry doors are small and if you are of any size you will stop likeing them very quickly. On the Fords I have driven the brakes are terrible and the over drive tranmissions get real confused under load going up a grade.
*another down side of the Ford is ball joints - they will go out
*I haven't driven the others much at all, but I do like my E250. of course it is my first van, and that may have alot to do with it. like not haveing to throw things on the rack or cover them in the rain.
*Been operating a van pool business for about 20 years now, using almost exclusively Ford E-350 club wagons (12, I think). Regularly get 150K++ out of them. Just bought a 2002 Dodge for the first time in years, and only have 4K miles, so it's too early to tell. Had an 83 Dodge POS that I dumped at 50K because of electrical and A/C problems that ate me out of house and home. The only thing I have against Fords now is pricing--less competitive than Dodge or GM, at least in Northern Virginia. All the new vehicles are engineered to last well over 100K with minimal (but regular) maintenance--mainly oil changes). You probably won't get stung by any of them, so go with the features/pricing that fits your situation best. Good luck.TC
*I had a 95 Chevy G20 that I ran 220,000 miles. They definately weren't maintenance free miles by any means, but I was driving alot of heaily loaded highway mileage at 75 mph. I now have a Dodge p/up that I could care less about. The fact that I have to add 1/2 hour to my day loading and unloading based on the weather really sucks. The Fords, I beleive, are a heavier duty truck, if thats what you need. But based on my personal experience, buy GM and get the options that will suit your needs.
*Three words of advice:G...M...C...IndestructibleAndy
*"another down side of the Ford is ball joints - they will go out "OFTEN. I bought several when I was driving Fords.Andy said it well
*BTW, there was a time, pre '76 when EVERY time I went into an auto parts store for anything, the other customer was ALWAYS in there to get a water pump for a Ford. My pard had one go out after only 16K. It made me wonder if Ford was alergic to water. LOL
I used to have a ford pu that ran hot, I killed it driving up and down the east coast, the temp needle would go to "H" and stay there. Hey, check out this color ####, PURPLE HAZZZZZZEEE , MAN, ANY HOW, BACK TO THE TRUCK,Over any river, (james, potomac, susquehanna, delaware, ) the temp needle would drift to "C', and then when you hit land, back up to "H", even with the heater on. really, this font and color stufff, italics, NOT BAD !!
