This is going to sound stupid, but here goes.
I have a Carlon SuperBlue ceiling box (BH525H is the model #). I ordered a chandalier and didn’t bother to think about the box.
Anyway, the chandalier is a Thomasville Provence (P4112-92C). The shipping carton CLAIMED 10 lbs, but I’m sure it weighs more than that.
Anyway, here’s my concern:
The Carlon box claims it’s rated for up to 50 lbs (My guess is the chandalier with the glass is around 25 or so).
I’m not worried about the box or the bar coming loose so much as the screws that go into the plastic holes in the box.
I know with a ceiling fan (because I did this to myself once before) in a REGULAR blue (non super-blue) box pulled out in a matter of minutes with the weight (okay, so I was stupid).
So I guess my question is, do “people” normally use a “superblue” box for something like this or a metal ceiling fan box? (or a metal box on joist, etc.)
There’s nothing in the manual (the whole 1 page) that says to use a ceiling fan/metal box, but not sure that doesn’t mean anything.

If in doubt, over-build it. metal box, through-bolts with nylon lock nuts, everything you can think of. It will be easier to add a little extra support now than later. And if you don't you will be second-guessing for a long time.
