I’m finishing some space in my basement for a home office, and have a large roll of “commercial grade” carpet that needs to be put down on the floor. The floor is a concrete slab with radiant heat and it is bone dry. Been in place for three years.
What’s the best method to put down the carpet? I was told to just glue it to the concrete, and roll it out with one of those big heavy carpet rollers. I have zero experience with carpet and don’t want to mess it up.

2 choices
1. tack strip on edges and stretch carpet in - can be done with commercial carpet - can also be done with a pad. Same as on a wood floor installation.
2. glue down carpet or do a double stick - glue pad, then glue carpet to pad. Glue down is better if you have rolling office chairs.
Hire a commercial carpet installer. Much easier and better finish. Any seams should be done by an installer anyway. Seams will show very quickly if not done properly.
for over concrete, I would DEFINATELY want a pad under the carpet.
