Does anyone know if it is possible to disconnect a cast iron soil pipe connection at the hub. I have a 80 year old house with a cast iron soil pipe riser that I want to relocate. I need to install an elbow where it passes through the 2nd floor joists but there is a lead filled hub right at that spot.
Is it possible to heat the hub up with a torch and disconnect it leaving the remaining pipe for me to connect with hubless connectors??? If so, can this be done without burning down the house and what type of torch do I need?
