I know this is probably going to start a debate but I though I would ask anyway since I did a search on the subject and found most of the posts at least a few years old. I wanted to know if there have been any new stuff that has come out since then.
Can you guys fill me in on the exterior sheathing. What you guys would recommend for my location down here in Texas.
Thanks

I use Zip Wall by Huber-I like it-Better than osb and locally available CDX.

Thanks Bruce. I wonder if they carry it in my neck of the woods.
I believe Stock, BMC, PRO Build, and McCoys carry it. I would start with McCoys.
HD does not.
Just called McCoys and they would have to order it. It would take a week to get it. I might just go with the osb and paper over it.
you finished shingling?
I am an OSB man myself. Cheap and when you cover it with the tarpaper, it will lay flat. Did I mention it is cheap?

Yeah still shingling but I need to get some sheathing up. They say we might get some rain and i'm tired of my framing getting a little wet.
Frammer should the bottom of the sheathing be flush with the bottom of the bottom plate or go past it?
I normally drop 1/2-1"
How much does Hardi go past the lower edge of the sheathing?
The reason i drop the osb is1/2" is so the hardie can be dropped the same amount giving a total of 1"!
Thanks. I'll see how it turns out.
I have seen termites eat more CDX than OSB
