Cedar roofs; perfection vs. handsplits
I’m trying to find pictures on the web of cedar perfection shingles to email to a customer who needs to replace their handsplit roof. The job is sold, the decision just needs to be made.
Obviously, they know what the handsplits look like. Cedar roofs are rare around here, and I can find no examples at all of perfections.
They think they would prefer the perfections, but would like to see some photos first. Local suppliers are no help.
Piffin? I think you have mentioned you use a lot of perfections in your area. Could you post some pictures? Or Mike Smith? or any one else out there?
Thanks!

svenny .. i don't have any digital pics of cedar roofs..
the hand splits are a competely different animal from a shingle
i prefer a shingle roof to a shake roof ( hand splits )
and hand splits come in two basic varities.. true handsplits.. and sawn back handsplits..
if we do a shingle roof we typically use an 18" Premium "thick butt" laid at 5.5 " exposure...
6.5 bndls / sq.
the butt thickness is 5/8"
think victorian shingle style or colonial for a thick butt roof
think ski chalet for a hand-split roof

What I'm calling "perfections" is , I think, what you are calling "thick butts".
I understand the difference between them and handsplits, I just need to get my hands on some pics for the customer.................................
I thought some cedar shingle web sites would have pics, but so far, no luck.

If they are anywhere near a forested area, sell the HO something else. Cedar is a deathtrap if the bushfires come a'callin.
Medina, Ohio. Forest fires are not a concern around here.
