Hello,
I am changing some damaged cedar shake siding and having a hard time cutting the nails underneath each coursing. Is there some special tool or technique to removing existing cedar shake siding? The only tool that does this is a slate tool used to cut the nails underneath slate roofs. Is there an easier way to remove these nails besides using a hack saw?

That's a good idea but a little tight for space. There a roof next to the wall. Thanks for the tip. YB

Jonathan, I've used something called a Slaterbar.
It sildes behind the shingle and you hook it on
the nail, and pound down on the handle. It rips
out the nail. It's not to pretty, but it works ok.
Good luck!
