I am rebuilding a wooden breezway that connects the house to the garage and enclosing it to become living space . It has a cedar shingle roof with 2 by 6 rafters that is new and my question regards insulating the inside of the roof. The total area is 8 by 20 feet. It is vaulted right now and all open inside to the rafters. The slab floor has radiant heat and various windows and two doorways. Would fiberglass faced insulation be sufficient for the ceiling or would adding an additional layer of 1 inch rigid foam insulation to the inside be beneficial? I was then considering paperless drywall for the finish layer. The house is located in eastern Pennsylvania. Also would a vapor barrier be indicated in addition to the kraft faced fiberglass? The side walls are 2 by 6 construction and insulated with fiberglass. Thank you.

Are you going to frame for a flat ceiling to insulate, or are you trying to insulate in the 2x6 space?

I will keep it vaulted and insulate in between the rafters. Thanks
You will get only about R17 between rafters if you use air flow venting, plus the foam over the rafters, ranging from R5 per inch to R7 per inch. With a lot of windows in the space, not much sense going with much more than R30 above, IMO, so to get another R13-14, use two inches of foil faced like Thermax under the rafter faces, and tape it with the foil tape. For the FG batts you can use unfaced. No reason at all to use the expensive foil faced in that location. The foil faced foam will provide the VBThen run strapping, installing it with long screws to hit the rafters through the foam. That gives you something to screw the sheetrock to, and the air space will let the foil be effective as a radiant barrier
