I have two buildings that need new siding in the next few years. One has cedar shingles and the other does not. I want to do them both with cedar. I was hoping that someone could recomend an up to date book or resource for installing cedar shingles. I have seen a fiber mesh pad that goes under the shingles at the lumber yard but I can’t find any mention of it in the info I’ve seen so far. I’m not sure if it is for roofing or siding, or if it is worth it to use at all. I want to do this right so it lasts a long time. So does anyone have a good resource they could recomend for cedar siding.
Thanks, Rob

http://www.cedarbureau.org/ ................. should give you a pretty good start.
The rain screen product is Rainslicker fopr walls and cedarbreather for roofs.
IMO, it has value on roofs and is marginal in worth for walls.
