HAVE USED SHOVEL W/ DECENT RESULTS, BUT FIND A STRAIGHT CLAW (RIPPING) HAMMER IS AS FAST AND EASIER ON MY SHOULDERS. WHY ARE WE YELLING???

I have used just a potato fork and just taken one or two rows at a time straight across the roof. If that have strips of tar paper under every course like they should, it will help roll them up easier.
potatoe fork?My tater fork isa about 16-18" wide and a tine every inch or inch and a half. It's worth too much to ruin on a roof!;)

16" fork? damn, I been eatin spuds with a reglur dinky fork all these years. Does it work on prime rib? :)
I'm guessin he's strippin sidewalls due to the panel question. Unless they're making them ok'd for roofs now ( could be ) .

Make sure you include enough money to cover and / or clean the attic. Cedar shingle and scraps will be all over the place if there are installed on 1 x 4s.
I've always used a cheap four prong garden fork, working across the roof prep to the drip line, taking one to four courses at a time, depending how it's going
