Hello- we are puttting up cedar clapboard siding and above the dormers we want to put a sunburst design. Does anyone have any feedback or advise for this? I can’t find any back issue articles on this in Fine Homebuilding

Here's a thread from the Breaktime forum. I found it by clicking the Advanced Search button and searching for "fan siding", without the quotes.

Read the suggested thread on the rake layout and rip the siding as it says. I have found that if you use a circular block at the base that flashing it with lead in 3 pieces is the easiest flashing , leave the lead long over the face and trim afterward. If you cut the rake angle first you then can place the other end on its layout mark and tap it lightly over the lead which will leave a mark on the siding where to cut it. Pre drill this end before nailing. Remember that you vary the exposure to achieve different looks
