I’m in the middle of figuring a very large reno and I’m thinking about the cedar siding and got to wondering how it works out price wise in the end using the panels or the individual shingles. Either way I’m going with the pre stained 2 sides type.
The panels are a lot more expensive but go up a lot faster and I think look better in the end and have a lot of other good qualities about them http://www.shakertown.com/index.html
I’m just wondering in the end how much more it costs using the panels so obviously I’m looking for an answer from anyone thats used them vs the conventional single shingle….or anyone thats done any extensive research abut the differences
Mucho thanxo

andy,
I put the panels on this home 20 yrs ago. They were more per sf than conventional shingles, but for a no experience with shingling guy......the quick converage was easy to take. Detailed properly they shed the weather well. I don't know I'd let them "weather" forever. I know my product from shakertown 20 yrs ago needs protection or the bond between the shingle and ply could separate.
I used let in bracing and foam sheathing. Added furring over the foam, then felt, then the panels.
I could put the scrap in a cardbd box.-the layout was coverage friendly.
that's not much info, but it was a while back.
