I have heard that cedar siding will deteriant tyvek brand air infiltration barrier if applied directly over it. True or False? Also what about installing cedar siding over styrofoams. Has anybody had any experience with this–any problems? Any information would be appreciated.

Try the advanced search using tyvek and cedar, or housewrap cedar.
You might find some info there, it was discussed not to long ago, but thats only if the search option is in a particually good mood and not acting up.
I was researching this myslef for an upcoming project.
1x10 rough cut - wavy edge western red cedar finished with a clear stain, lakeside location, considering a rainscreen. Material costs are $3.00 s.f. with 8" exposure.
Quite a bit of controversy here, seems that one thing is certain, rainscreen is the best bet, and from what i gather felt paper rather than tyvek.
I did an advanced search using the key words "cedar with tyvek" and was quite successful.
But still intersted in what others may have to add.
Cheers.
Did all of that.
Shakes over Tyvek over 1" foamboard over OSB. Framing and Fiberglass insulation inside Vapor barrier inside then drywall.
I can't see how the Tyvek would care about the cedar. It has been suggested the foam with tyvek is redundant.
Here's some information that I have on the subject.
