I’ve never used this stuff in my region before, have a job with wavy rough sawn 1×10 knotty red cedar-8″ exposure.
1-1/2 storey/full back/ 3 dormers on front. About 2000 s.f.
Having a hard time estimating for it. I’m thinking 3 guys 5 days….
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.

New or redo?
Cornerboards?
Includes window trim?
Flashings already in place?
More or less right
Excellence is its own reward!
Thanks Piffin,
New construction, so far design calls for the siding to run into windows (no trim) & caulked, with corner boards, drip caps and flashing to be installed by us.
Cheers.
Anyone else have some insight on this?
Where is your part of the country? I would reconsider the no window trim idea. Sounds like a leak waiting to happen. What weather barrrier are you using? In my neck of the woods (southern California) I would charge $350/sq for labor. Thats just for the siding and the weather barrier. No window and door trim no soffitt or fascia. Windows would be $52/ea. Doors would be $42/ea. Soffitt and fascia would depend on the style chosen. If its just plywood about $3/ft up to 24" then its 50 cents per foot over 24". I would make absolutely sure that you properly flashed your windows and doors. That is really important.
In Ontario, cottage country, cold winters lots of snow, blistering summers, lakeside as well.
Was spec'd tyvek, I think it will be changed to felt, 350$ square eh...
what about timeline, i'm running 3 guys, about 1000$/day was figuring 5 days /$5000 more or less with air barrier already installed, your saying 350$/ square, I have 20 square so 7000$......sound about right?
I know your talking US$ but the rates are often comparible.

Yeah something like that. I am not familiar with the exchange rate between the two countries. Remember that you need to make a profit on the job as well! Another way of bidding jobs is to look at what it will cost you in labor (hourly wages + taxes, ins. benefits, ect) and then multiply by whatever your multiplier is say 1.5 and add the cost of materials + whatever you mark up your materials. I like to make 25% on my materials. Hey whatever works for you!
I know what i'm making ect ect, I'm just asking what you think it will take to put it up... you sound like you have experience with cedar siding, I do not. I always sub the exterior finishes but this job is out of my area, I will be up there anyways, I have a crew with me, I dont know good installers there and the owner is a friend.....
Assuming that your helpers are experienced with installing siding and there are no problems with the framing I would say a 3 to 4 man crew could possibly do it in a week.
Most people think that one man can install 1 sq of siding per day. Which if it is vinyl may be true. A lot of people on these forums figure more like a half a square per day, per man. Since there is no trim and the house is already weather proof then it may be possible to get 4 square on per day for 5 days. That's making good time. Hope it works out for you.
Thanks for all your info... lets see how i do
Cheers
