Anyone know of a good aerosol knock-down texture on ceilings?
I do a lot of drywall repairs, most of which require matching texture. Homax aerosol cans of texture have worked very well, but today I had to match a knock-down texture on a ceiling. No problem. I’ve done lots of knock-down with the spray cans – but not on a ceiling.
The stuff won’t spray with enough velocity to reach the ceiling well and quickly stops spraying at all. Homax tech support said “return the can for full refund” but that doesn’t get the job done.
Spraytex instructions says “hold can upright”, so I expect that that one won’t work either.
I really don’t want to drag my big compressor out to the job and load up the hopper gun for a 30 sq foot texture job.

Don't know that this will help but I will offer it anyway.
Old drywaller here uses a couple of portable air tanks and his hopper gun for small repairs. Fills the tank at home and brings them along leaving the compressor behind. Still need the hopper though.
flip the texture on to the cieling with a masory brush...
dip the brush and flick the texture on with a snap action to the brush...
Ace had spray cans of texture for verticle application...
add a short piece of clear vynal hose to the canned texture and bend it twoard the cieling while holding the can verticle...

Spray cans don't work worth a #### for knock-down--especially on ceilings. 30 sf, or 3000 sf, you need the hopper for a good match. Charge accordingly.
Or...use IMERC's plan w/ the masonry brush---tricky..Requires skill. Charge accordingly.
