in between the two walls 88 1/2′ apart.
30″ pocket door.
RO = door size x 2 + 1 1/4″.
Do the math.
What do you mean you can’t center it?
Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhh: I seeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Duh.
Sitting in a nice cozy office with pads, pencils and drawing instruments, adding machines and calculators and you couldn’t figure this out until after the fact when I bought it to your attention?
This is what I have to deal with on a daily basis.
I get paid every Friday either way.
I guess it’s really not so bad.
It sure would be nice to be able to team with some smart folks, or at least some that are smart enough to solicit advice for things they are ignorant of.
Done.

Slide it a little bit into the thickness of one wall - I've done that.

The "other" wall also has a pocket door in it.
We're bumping bumpers here.
It's only off 2''.
No big deal; but when someone who is supposed to be an authority on these matters designs and draws a plan showing the door centered..........[email protected]

Use a biparting pocket door.

That's a great idea!

I don't know why there's a problem.
According to your original post the wall is over 88' wide. Or is that supposed to be 88" ?
I don't know. Maybe my eyes are just getting old... :-) Or maybe mistakes happen...

Yeah, inches not feets.
Center of door opening is 44 1/4".
61 1/4" minus 15" (half of door) is 46 1/4". That's 2" past center.

You me an attidute as a substitute for great thinking?
These panel doors? 2-4 doors. Special order, but they got 'em. A few inches left over to hide any anger left at the end of the day...
I don't understand the problem; you've got a wall that's 88-1/2 feet long, and you can't center a 30 inch door in it?
Sitting in a nice cozy office and all....
Ha! Gotcha!
(Actually, the jokes on me of course, since this is redundant. Oh well. Jokes get better with repetition, don't they?)
Now it's off to the cenotaph for the 11 am service. Take two minutes, would you mind? It's a pittance of time.

Thanks.
Nice crisp trim details there.
Just curious; why the bare wood showing on the doors?[email protected]

Eric, if you look at the joints on Piffin's stiles and rails, it looks like a wider door was cut down into two doors.
Good eye

I had to scrtch my head to remember on that too - this was a sungle six panel door that we divided in half, then made a pair of meeting astragalls with beaded corner to compliment the other greek trims in thehouse for each door. So the bare wood has to do with the door rebuild.

Well THAT's creative.
I was wondering where the heII you would get a three panel door![email protected]
It's Never Too Late To Become What You Might Have Been
My memory iss waking up now after taking another look. That is not just bare wood. We made each half about an inch wider after the division and added the astragal pieces. Most of what you see is Minwax wood filler sanded out on that seam. The astragals are 1" x 2-1/4" with a 5/16" double bed. You can see how the extra size protrudes to become a grip to pull as well as a stop to keep the dooor from wholley entering the pocket.

"I once got a plan that called for a dutch pocket door..."You had to import a pocket door all the way from Holland?BruceT
SP uses that title dutch in its door library for a style of country door with a lite in the top or maybe with a diffeerent pattern in the top and bottom, like the crossbuck type, rather than meaning the way it hangs.

The door in this particular case was for an eccentric old lady who had a whole bunch of dogs. (In an odd twist of irony, she was a real bitch, too)She was building a new house, and had THREE entire rooms devoted to the dogs. One was a sun room with lotsa windows. Another had a wet bar in it. The "dutch pocket door" was supposed to be between the kitchen and one of the dedicated dog rooms. I assume so she could keep the dogs out of the kitchen, but still keep an eye on them.
