My wife is probably getting transfered to the Visalia area. I know there are some guys that hang out here that are in the Central Ca area. After looking at the availbilty/cost of homes, I don’t think we will find anything that will suit or needs. Finding out some of this info will help make a better decision as to whether to take this job or not. It’s hard to leave our lake front home setting, but employment sucks where we are now(Western Wash Coast)
Well, this is the one question that I really shouldn’t ask here, but I need to get some info on costs for a home in Central Ca. I’ve read some of the other threads in the past. But i need to get a little fore sight on the matter.
What I would like to know is the avererage cost for foundation(I perfer raised over slab), framing, roofing and drywall. All the rest I can handle if needed. Wouldn’t mind knowing the average fees in building/utilites.
I don’t want hard, binding numbers, just give me an idea of what to expect on a simple home with 3bdrm/2bth approx 1700-1900 sqft simple exterior/interior. Simple gable roof with maybe a valley or two. Only thing out of the ordinary is a attached/detached 1900 sqft garage in the 26-28 width.
Can any of you help shed the light on this ??
Thanks in advance, Brian

I really don't have an answer for you, I am in the bay area, but maybe this will get you back to the top of the board.
The Washington coast has some beautiful lakes.
I remember staying beside one that made Tahoe look like a pond. It was awesome, with one of those cool lodges too.
Sorry you have to leave.
im in northern california, but not in the area you are looking at... im on the s.f. peninsula, and the property you described would be in the 600k+ range in my neck of the woods.
with that said, prices in the valley, that far south are probably going for half that.
as for building... couldn't give you an idea about costs... but you might want to check out realtor.com and type in visalia, and see what kinds of houses pop up, as well as prices...
there are several lakes within a decent driving distance, but i dont think you'll find something comparable to your current digs.
probably doesn't help much, but thought i would toss in my couple pennies worth...
by the way... you might want to pick up a few more pairs of shorts... gets pretty toasty down there in the valley...

Checking out the houses in the classified ads may give you some idea.
