I recently had ceramic tile installed in the kitchen and dinette. The tile was installed over the 3/4″ OSB subfloor. I was told the minimum deflection rating needed for the floor tile was L360. The floor I have is supported by TJI floor joists 16″ on center which has a deflection rating of more than L480 so tiling over the 3/4″ subfloor was ok. Should I be concerned about cracking tiles in the future? Is this adequate support for the tiles? The floor seems quite solid. Thanks.

The most common damage I see to floor tiles, comes from dropping things on them. The larger the tile the more apt they are to crack. Cast iron frying pans are killers but anything can land just right. Large floor areas can crack due to deflection but it will often crack on the grout lines unless the floor is really bouncy.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Deflection is only one aspect, and it sounds like you're O.K. there. The bigger problem is that the tile was installed over OSB, which WILL swell if and when it gets wet. Plywood is the preferred subfloor.
Did they use cement board or a membrane over the OSB or did they tile directly to the OSB?
Also, 3/4" is not thick enough. The subfloor for tile should be 1 1/8 inch plus the cement board or membrane.

Advantech then mud or CBU....Advan is bullet proof to anything. The secret of Zen in two words is, "Not always so"!

I honor the place within you where if you are in that place in you
and I am in that place in me, there is only one of us.
Right, everyone says Advantech is great stuff. With all the waterproofing additives it's in a whole 'nother category from regular OSB.
