About to start the C-tile in the master. It is a slab floor. The sheetrocker blew his texture heavy (mud mix orange peel) and got alot on the floor. I have scraped all of it of but now I wonder how clean does it need to be so that my thinset “bites” into the slab. You can still see where the mix has settled into the pores of the slab. I dont want my thinset to break free from the slab because the teeth were filled with drywall mud..thanks

You could mop the slab with vinegar (sp) and then rinse with water.
Just a thought

Get a good, high quality thinset. Expect to pay around $16-20 a bag. Mix up a cup full and test out a section.
Personally, thinset is so good, that it will probably bond in your situation.
