Got my Roman Ogee bit from MLCS..
Went to rout some trim…
decided that to better match the old stuff I needed a different sized bearing.
Guess what??!!
MLCS bearing has a slightly bigger ID and OD than all the other bearing bits I got.
I got, freud, PC , woodtek, etc.
all have interchangeable bearings.
The collars that go on the rabbet bits dont even go on the MLCS bit.
Now I’m wondering if I even want to use my 10% coupon!!

I purchased a stile and rail set from them for my shaper. It can take hours to get the bit set up correctly. My freud set is ready to use as soon as I drop them on the spindle. The bores on the mcls sets get stuck on my spindles, the better ones go on and off with no problems.
It's worth spending three times as much for a better product and being able to use it without wasting time.
I almost hate to ask - But what does "MLCS" stand for ???

They have 'entry level' and better quality. Some of the folks on Knots liked MLCS's entry level sets (as a starter set), but most suggest getting better quality bits for those tasks you're going to do a lot.

Thanks John - I was begining to think no one was gonna tell me.(-:
Then there was the old politician who went to see his doctor. He complained he was having to dodge issues he used to sidestep easily.
I think I ran into the same fiasco once...there is a spacer or bushing that will fit the inner race to make it work on the MCLS shaft..( I THINK). It may have come from a Vermont American bit...but it was a LONG time ago.
As an aside, I have made collars to enlarge the O.D. of bearings out of lexan..for those hard to match profiles, just drill a hole for a press fit and true it up on a lathe or drill press for the final OD that yer need.

Tommy, can you hear me?
Why look here?
Mr T,
I used to buy from MLCS, until I had a problem with carbide that wouldn't hold an edge. Life is too short for those type of tooling fiascoes; I haven't bought from them since.

or the bit is out of balance and chatters and a slug of carbide breaks off...
and hits Piffin in the ear...
