Somebody should tell this guy about renting a panel lifter. But then, ya gotta admire his ingenuity.
But first I want to say that I know many of you have seen this video before. But some others (such as myself until now) haven’t.

Cleaver.
Well, I haven't seen it before so I enjoyed watching how his ingenuity came into play, bit by bit.
If I couldn't find some help, I'd rent a board lifter too, but I don't think it would be a whole lot better system than this one.
Thanks for posting the link.
Actually a perty good idear.
It also provides a work platform and it appears on wheels and he down ceiling without getting down.
A lift will get the DW up, but then he still needs a platform, ladder, or stilts to work from.
My only problem is that he appears to run a DW screw into the wiring.
When he cuts the hole for the can light it is lite. But after he screws off sheet that light is off, but the others in the room are still on.
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.

I notices the light being on but didn't notice it going off, will have to watch it again.

I'm impressed. I rent a lift but my DW guy hangs it without any help.
I nevver believed him but on the last kitchen I stayed and watched him. He put an 8 footer on his back and lifted it into place and just screwed it in.
He impressed me too.
Maybe i'm easy to impress.

I've hung plenty of ceilings solo, and without a panel lifter. At the wall I put a couple of screws in the wall to hold that edge up, and use a T to lift and suppor the other edge. If it's away from the wall I screw a couple of short pieces of 1x at the egde of the sheet it's butting up to, so the pieces of 1x act as tabs. It works pretty well. You'd be impressed. :)--------------------------------------------------------

how the h does he do that without breaking sheets!? Or getting things aligned?
I have no idea but he does. The jobs come out great.
It's better than the cheap Chineez POS DW lift I bought for $100.

If it gets the drywall to the ceiling, I'd say that's $100 well spent.--------------------------------------------------------

Every time I use it I'm pizzed I bought it.
Bought it on Ebay, never saw one til I got it.
If you saw it in action, you'd be convinced too.
12' 5/8" rock is scarey.

I've seen those on ebay, and the cheap stilts too. It's the stilts that scare me, no getting out of the way if they collapse. :o--------------------------------------------------------

I'd have to say the guy is pretty clever. His idea may even be better then the lift.
I've hung some DW solo and without any aids, dont know if I could do it again but it was balance act.
Doug
Now why didn't I think of that?
I like how he cuts out the cans with 'em on!
I'm impressed. He looks pretty effecient.
I love the OSHA/Bellushi method of moving the scaffold platform
Besides lifting the drywall to the rails, moving the rig is the only part you could consider work. I wonder if he'll use that technique when he's mudding. :)
I was up on a wheeled platform slowly moving it like that, when someone went and started pushing it for me. He was just trying to help, but scared the he11 out of me! LOL--------------------------------------------------------

Re. moving scaffolding for you.
Yep, I know that feeling. I hope to not spend enough time on scaffolding to get used to that feeling.
Last time I hung sheetrock off a lift, told my buddy I would help him hang his addition to the auto garage we had built 20 years ago.
Saturday Job. We set it up about 2 months prior and talked about 1x per week in planning.
He had a scissor lift for the 20 foot clgs. -no problem.
"Whatever you do, buy 8' sheets Mike. We wont be able to handle 12' sheets" I told him. (he never hung rock and is 6" shorter than me)
I show up at 7 am and see a pile of 12' goods.
Well, he held up one end, sort of, while I held up most of it and got the nails started so he could then nail up his end. Bout mid day, I felt a little pinch in my groin. We got the thing hung.
Bout a month later, got my hernia surgery.
I have a special place in my heart for a good tool to take the load off or better yet, get big enough jobs to make it worth my while to have my drywall subcontractor do it.
