I’m installing a clothes washer in the basement.Drain is at ceiling level,7 feet above the floor.Drain line from washer will travel 6 feet along the floor(horizontally)and then vertically 7 feet to the drain (inch and a half plastic). Do I need a check valve for this system? Where does it have to go? Can I install it in the horizontal run?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Not sure about the check valve. Had one in an old house I had - it got cloged periodically but worked ok other than that - it was on a verticle pipe. OTOH you might want to do a search for basement washer or similar - several people here have had troule where the washer couldn't pump out to a similar height.
This sounds improbable. How are you going to connect the washer drain hose to the 1-1/2" pipe? You may need to install a typical standpipe and drain that into a sewer ejector, then pump up to the drain. I'd have a plumber check this out instead of DIY.
