I've got a 2001 3500 chevy extended with a 5.7. Its got 106000 miles and its been good to me. It needed a fuel pump and some of the interior panels have broken clips that now allow them to rattle here and there, but overall i'd but it again in a minute.
I get around 350-400 miles per tank.
Bottom line its been very reliable.
I have a 6L in my '99 4X4 2500 PU. Get between ten and sixteen MPH.
On a stick shifter and high speed rear end

I drive a suburban for work and can say that I have been impressed with the 6.0L
I'm working for a fire department and I'm on my getting ready to get my third suburban in three years with just over 80K on each of the first two. They are 3/4 ton with the tow package and but otherwise are the same thing that is on the street. They are very plain state bid vehicles with not many options. I drive these HARD. Long idle times in the summer with the A/C on I have found that you need to keep the radiator washed out from cottonwood fuzz. Nothing major and it cools back down quickly but I wish it had a high idle switch to move more air.
I had a problem with the electronic 4wd switch on the first one and a coil pack on the second one but otherwise these drive trains are bullet proof. I have been amazed what kind of abuse these things take. I know the running gear is slightly different but I would have to say Chevy has come along way when I compare my Work suburban to my personal 98 pickup.
Hope this helps
