Hi all, does anyone know of a standard practice for sealing the joint between the masonry and framing/siding, other than foam to the studs and caulk outside?

A piece of approx. 1" X 4 to 6" "L" metal or roof drip flashing. The neat way to do it is to place the bead on the brick first, place the metal over it, then the tar paper, etc.
