I assume there must be some reason that most saw manufacturers have deemed it advantageous to knock the back corner off their base plates on the side opposite the blade on sidewinder saws but I am hard pressed to see any advantage at all. Maybe it saves a couple of grams of weight??? I would much rather they go back to leaving this side full length as it was much easier to keep the saw following a straight edge or speed square. Anyone else frustrated by this?
