As the 17-year cicadas have, literally, begun to rear their ugly heads here in Maryland, we have some concerns about a residential project that is about to get exterior paint & stucco finish. Anyone run into trouble with cicadas landing in the drying material and getting stuck? We really don’t want the unique ‘texture’ of remaining cicada legs in our paint or stucco finish. Do we hold off until this infestation is over? If so, we need to act quickly.
Thanks for any help offered.

we are expecting BOTH the 17 yr. and the 13 yr. , they certainly could mess up a slow drying paint job...only the lower part tho', they don't usually go too high to molt thier casing..
we had them in NC two yrs. ago, and the only places they climb high is on trees to deposit eggs in a slit on a branch
I think that stucco should be safe..but I could be wrong
