Been offered a job from a local builder to strip and clapboard the front of a small cape. I havn’t done clapboards in years. It can be either a bid or by the hour but he wants an estimate on hours. I figure a full week to cover my butt. The question is does anybody know the going rate for clapboards in the southern MA/Cape Cod area? I don’t want to screw myself.

You're right - use nails, instead :-)

I'm on a cedar kick recently, although out of the loop on pricing. Just to cya, go to the Western Red Cedar Lumber Association's site (http://www.wrcla.org) and download the installation guide.

Not sure what kind of siding you'll be using but if you go with fiber cement (Hardiplank or similar). Its going for about $3.00 a l.f. in my area (Florida) which is only about 1,000 miles from you.
So that info is totally useless to you but if you go with Hardiplan (or similar) buy the shears to cut it...they're awesome and are the best tool I've bought in the past 6 months!

Got a shear, can't agree more.
