Client Struggling to Visualize Finished Space? Here’s What Helped on a Recent Custom Build

We recently supported a builder on a high-end custom home near Monaco where the client was having a hard time signing off on finish materials and lighting details—despite having samples and plans in hand. It was slowing down the schedule and adding friction to the process.
To help, we created a series of photorealistic visuals that showed how the space would actually look at different times of day—especially how natural light would move through the interiors and interact with specific surfaces like brushed stone, oak, and burnished bronze. That was the turning point. Once the homeowner saw the full picture, the decisions came quickly and confidently. The builder told us it saved at least two weeks of back-and-forth.
Would be curious how others here are using visuals or mockups to keep momentum going on complex projects.

Me personally, I'm in need of good design/rendering software to use for this. So far, I've used a small handful of ways to illustrate a proposed space for remodeling clients, from hand drawing on the back of drywalled walls and wood scraps, to hand drawing design ideas in Photoshop with my own hand-created drawing tools.
Yeah, I know it's not the way to do it these days lol, but lacking experience with any of the design/drafting programs on the market has me putting off of investigation and spending in that area and ending up with a product that isn't the best fit for my needs.
My .02. :)
