I’ve been framing with a Porter Cable full-round head nailer for the last year. I recently added both a Paslode Powermaster and cordless Impulse framing nailer to my arsenal. Both guns shoot 30 degree paper strip clipped head nails. I’m having a terrible time with the lumber splitting using the clipped head guns. I have the depth of drive adjusted to sink the nail about 1/16″ below the surface. Anyone else have this problem or any suggestions?
Thanks, Ski

Is the lumber splitting with the full roundhead nailer too? You may be framing with yellow pine that has a tendency to split at the ends of the board.

Have you tried the "Roundrive" nails from Paslode? They are their alternative to D-head (clipped).
I have that Paslode...no wood splittin' here. I'm shootin' clipped nails, never messed with the depth either.
I didn't do it....the buck does NOT stop here.
