I am looking for advice on how to finish the floor in front of my new sliding glass door. The existing floor is maple tongue in groove. my issue is that there apparently was a long term water leak in the window I removed and some of the old flooring has swelled.
I could certainly cut the old wood out and replace it with identical maple flooring that I removed from an adjacent closet. But….how do I easily cut the maple inasmuch as it is so close to the wall? (not to mention the door). obviously the shoe of a circular saw would preclude me from getting close to the wall. same with a jigsaw. a sawzall could work…but I would not be able to cut a straight line easily. I was thinking of a Roto-zip? (I have an older one)
I was also thinking of cutting out about 1 to 2 feet of the floor in front of the door and putting tile in (I have 5 dogs)….comments??
thanks

Don't know which way your flooring runs, but this might help you get some ideas on how to repair.
