I’m assuming a moderator of some sort is going to read this message.
I would appreciate an explanation for censoring or locking postings. If a moderator is going to make the effort to do that, it’s only a small additional effort to offer an explanation. I am EXTREMELY appreciative of the help from the users here and the invaluable wealth of information they’ve accumulated. I’m a very satisfied FHB and looking forward to remaining one.
I realize it’s a never ending grind to moderate a large and busy resource like this. The up side is that with such a large user base you’ll generate a ton of goodwill and support for your efforts if you made people feel like they are important to you. In contrast, it’s impolite and a lot of people to disappoint when you don’t take the time to communicate with them individually after you have singled them out individually for something.
Please take this as constructive feedback and thank you for a very good resource.
Sincerely,
John Jackson

John, I'm not sure why anyone at Taunton has to explain anything. The rules are clearly written on the start page. This is their house not ours. We should all act like guests. If some one ticks me off at my house there ain't no explanation or need for one, it's probably the same at yours. too. I figure I've got enough to do minding my own business. Those that have run into problems know why they did, don't let them snow you.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Having done a touch of moderating myself, and having hung around some other sites which required frequent active intervention by moderators, I've found that a modeator explaining an action all too often just creates another squabble.
Not saying it would happen here, since we never squabble, but maybe the moderators trained in somewhere else.
