I have an opening that is 47″ x 79″ and the mirror bi fold door package says fits 79 3/4″ height up to whatever…it also says not to take into account the carpet thickness which there is a carpet in this case but i can only assume that that is not 3/4″ thick..maybe 1/2″ So do you think these doors will work before i buy them and invest a bunch of time into trying to install them? Any feedback would be great.

You have an openning that is an inch too small both ways, more or less, so you need to get your hole stretcher out

If you don't have access to a hole stretcher that size, you will need to trim them.
I've never seen bifolds with enough wood that you could trim that much out of them without making them fall apart

Trimming the mirror would be a greater challenge than finding a hole stretcher!

I read the OP's note twice and missed the mirror part both times. Need to get my brain checked.
I have some Jeldwen bi-folds (from Brosco) which have a few inches of solid wood in the bottom. I didn't see the mirror part of the OP's note however.
I missed the mirror thing too.But the width is an inch under also

I just had to do this with some new closet doors. After trimming 1" off there was no wood left in the bottom. I ripped the outer edges of the trimmed piece off on the TS and glued it back in place at the bottom of the doors. Since I reused the same piece I didn't even have to drill new holes.Doesn't work for the OPs mirror doors but if he chooses to go to wood he'll be okay.cheers .mark.
I had to scratch my head over that one for a minute 'till I realized you were talking about hollow core doors

That's the name, hollow core doors. Couldn't remember the name of the darn things or I would have put it in my post :)cheers - mark
Does not sound promising.
If they were wood doors - you would have a decent shot - mirrors, not so good........

2nd thoughts:
1) 6'6" solid bifold doors, or make something, either way - Johnson hardware - the heavy stuff. Then glue custom mirror to doors.
2) Custom mirror doors.
3) 6'6" door, Johnson hardware - skip the mirror.
4) Employ hole stretcher and use stock sized door you mentioned.
