My foundation is insulated on the outside with 2″ blueboard, which is glued to the concrete. What is the best way/product to use to coat the part that rises above grade for a better appearance? Also, unfortunately, a few of the pieces are not glued very tightly, although the backfill holds them against the foundation pretty well. Does that matter?
For some reason my wife doesn’t like the look of blue styrofoam sticking up out of the ground……………

any chance of getting rid of the wife?
I bet that would be more expensive than coating the blueboard.......
I reccomend allways getting 3 estimates
Told you you shouldn't have gotten either in the first place.
There are trowel-on acrylic products out there to give a fine stucco finish.
Metal flashing.
I don't think metal flashing will be my best choice since there is quite a bit of foam showing where the grade changes. Anybody have more info on the epoxy/elastomer type coatings?

How much is sticking above grade? Does it extend all the way up to the sill?

Yes, up to the sill. In most places, that is less than 24 inches, but where the basement becomes daylight, I have as much as 4 feet showing. I was hoping to find an acrylic trowel on product as one mentioned before.

Mike, there's one company's product. Your local lumberyard will probably have their own supplier and should be able to get you installation instructions if you want them.

In this case I'm siding with the wife. Blueboard breaks down if you leave it exposed to sunlight. And whatever you use, try to put it on in such a way as to reduce the chance or insects getting into the blueboard. They don't feed on it, but they do like the ease with which it can be excavated.
