What is the usual code requirement for the difference in floor elevation between garage and living space? How much of that height needs to be concrete?
Thanks,
Win

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

The 2000 IRC calls out ZERO.
The only require is that the garage floor be non-combustable and slope towards the garage door.
But I know that other codes are different.
So check what your area requires.
In VA it is 4".
apologize for the hijack -- What does the code say for the passage door from the garage to living space -- does it have to have a particular burn rate of can it just be a solid door -- we have one that is a nine lite door from the kitchen to the garage and we are thinking about dressing it up and wanted to be sure what we installed meets current day code - tks
http://forums.taunton.com/tp-breaktime/messages?msg=81421.2The 2000 IRC calls out several, but basically a solid door would work. Some other codes require a specific fire rating and among those the time varies.
Where I'm at your wall assembly is required to be 1 hour. Your door assembly is required to be 20 minutes. This includes the door jamb.
Tell us where you are located. In MA we need a 4" min gas curb
The project is in Connecticut.
By 4" gas curb I assume that you need 4" of masonry or non-combustible material?
Thanks,
