has any one heard of inspectors requiring plumbing DWV lines and supply lines to not be located in cold air returns? I know gas lines are prohibited, but not sure about the others. thanks

I looked throught the UMC and could not find this restriction.
Perhaps the objection is to blockage of the flow of air--the heater must be receiving as much return air as it puts out--perhaps this is the objection. I don't remember ever seeing drain pipes run through a coldair return, was the duct installed before the drain or vice versa?
