I’m thinking about giving the Collins Coping foot a try. Seems like everyone that uses one has it mounted to a small barrel handled jig saw. I have a spare Mikita D handle saw laying around. Wondering if it’s too big or awkward with the Collins. Does anyone out there have first hand experience with a normally sized D handle saw and a Collins?

Have you watched the video of the inventor using it? From what I remember, it’s possible but moderately uncomfortable. This from trade show demo’s.
Old guy stuck in his ways—professionally coping with a coping saw.

I'm old school, too. I use my coping saw for 99% of the coping I've done over the years.
I've been to the Gary Katz Road Shows a couple of times. He demonstrates using the Collins foot. Grant, this was a demo, not a jobsite, but I'm considerably faster coping basic crown with my lowly coping saw, than he was with the jigsaw with the Collins foot.
I think a lot of people who haven't had good results with a coping saw, have the wrong blade in it. I have a fairly coarse blade in mine, so it cuts pretty fast.
Yes, blade selection is important, as is changing it once in a while.
Old school is good until you realize your the pretty old guy in a middle school.
If your lucky.....
I have one that I used briefly on a d handled bosch. It worked okay. I think it's strength may be working in hardwood. Large oak crown for example. For soft wood stuff like speed base I prefer the coping saw.
Wanna buy a lightly use one?

Previous comments are well considered, I mostly relate. I've used a collins foot for years off and on and it was really nice with my old barrel handle paddle switch makita but it died. Boohoo. Now it's with a push switch barrel handle bosch and not quite as handy but still has it's merits. Still, with a proper blade I prefer it over the hand coper for the most part. My main jig saw is a milwaukee but it's just a li'l brutish for the cope foot.
I had the Collins foot for the Bosch jigsaw I used to own. But when I bought the Festool Trion jigsaw, I didn't get a Collins foot for it, partly because I'm cheap. But also because I rarely used the one I had for the Bosch
