I inherited a house with this siding on it. It was installed sometime in the 60’s I think. I no longer have any paperwork on it as I was told the original owner was the only one covered on the warranty. I am older and wiser now and I want any information I can get to make this company pay for their crappy siding!
I also bought an older home for a rental property that has this siding and it has the same problems as my inherited house. I really don’t want to paint the siding as I let a tenant in the rental property paint a few years ago, along came a hailstorm, and it now needs repainted as the paint came off the siding.
Anyone know how I can contact the company and get this siding replaced?

Thanks, Calvin
I went to the website but it really didn't tell me anything more than I already knew. I would like to track down the company that bought them out and the lawsuit information. Thanks for trying to help anyway, unlike the other two posters.
No, Dan, she wants to make the company pay and replace the siding, same with the hail damaged siding. She's older and wiser now.
It was painted and the hailstorm took the paint off. It didn't last. Color Lok is vinyl coated, is it not? How can paint stick to that. Yes, I expect siding bought in the 60's or 70's to last as guaranteed. It hasn't just looked bad recently, it's not looked good for several years now.
IIRC, Masonite didn't begin producing ColorLok until about 1980. (And Masonite, for all intents and purposes, went out of business about 10 years ago.) If the siding was installed in the 60s I'm guessing it was not ColorLok but some other brand, and one of the reasons Masonite went out of business was that they were getting blamed for failures of siding from a dozen other companies, since all hardboard siding was generically referred to as "masonite" (though they had their share of siding failures too).
Vinyl and vinyl coated sidings can be successfully painted, but it requires the right paint and proper surface preparation. Whoever manufactured the siding can't be blamed for paint failure.
No one (who's learned anything about shingles) expects 25 year shingles to last 25 years. If you get 20 you feel lucky. But several companies (notably Certainteed) have had bad runs of shingles, where they lasted less than 10. This is why we have class-action lawsuits (which the Republicans are attempting to outlaw).
The shingles on a house I own have been there since 1990 and still look great. I would expect 20 years but not 8!

you have to read the warranty real close as most any warranty leans towards the giver, not the buyer.
At its best, all the roof warranty will cover and pay for (if installed to manufacturer's specs) is replacement of shingle, minus time served.
No way you get a new roof, all you get is replacement product.
Some class action suits, while seemingly way better in the payoff, only last till the judgement money runs out.....................
or
other.
Best of luck on this one.
